What we collect
When you buy the book, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your name, billing address, and card details so they can take payment. We never see or store your card number.
From us, we receive your email address (for delivery and updates) and the order ID. That's it.
What we use it for
- Sending you the book and any future updates.
- Replying when you email us.
- Processing refunds when you ask for one.
- Anonymous, aggregated counts of how many copies we have sold.
What we don't do
- We don't run session-replay tools, heatmaps, or advertising pixels.
- We don't sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone.
- We don't email you marketing for unrelated products.
- We don't keep credit card numbers. Stripe handles that.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser, _ga and one beginning _ga_, which it uses to tell repeat visits apart. Stripe's checkout flow may set cookies needed to process the payment; those are governed by Stripe's own privacy policy. Blocking cookies for this site costs you nothing: everything here still works.
Analytics only runs if you accepted it in the banner. If you said no, or have not answered, nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookie is set. You can change your mind any time with the “Cookie choice” link at the bottom of any page.
Fonts
The typefaces are served from this site, not from a third-party font service, so no font request leaves for Google Fonts or anyone else.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count page views and see which pages people find useful. It sets the cookies described above and sends Google your IP address, page URL, referrer, and browser details. Google processes that as our data processor, and their handling is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
If you would rather not be counted, any tracker blocker or Google's own opt-out browser add-on stops it, and nothing on the site breaks.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we have on file, correct it, or delete it. Email us and we'll do it within seven days. If you bought the book and want everything erased, we can do that too (you'll lose access to future updates, since we no longer have a way to reach you).
Data location
Email and order records sit with our hosting and email providers in the EU and the US. Stripe stores payment data in the regions described in their privacy policy. If you're in a jurisdiction with data-residency requirements, email us before purchasing and we'll talk it through.
Children
The book is for working software engineers. The site isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change anything material in this policy, we'll update the date at the top and email anyone who has bought the book. The previous versions stay available on request.
